Rene Piil Pedersen is Group Representative for the Maersk Group in the Asia-Pacific region based in Singapore, and responsible for Government Relations and Public Affairs; representing the Maersk Group, among others the business units Maersk Line, APM Terminals, Maersk Drilling and Maersk Tankers.
In this capacity René Piil Pedersen is also Managing Director of A. P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd. Being the owner of more than 60 Maersk Line container vessels registered in Singapore. A.P. Moller Singapore employs some 65 persons in Singapore responsible for technical operations, crewing, finance and more. The fleet represents investments worth more than 4 billion USD. René Piil Pedersen is serving on several boards among others A. P. Moller Singapore Pte Ltd, Maersk Drilling Holdings Singapore Pte Ltd, and Maersk Supply Service Singapore Pte Ltd. Furthermore, Rene has a seat on the Council of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) and he is Chairman for the SSA International Committee. Rene Piil Pedersen joined the A. P. Moller – Maersk Group in February 2012.
From 1993 to 2012 Rene Piil Pedersen was with the Danish Shipowners’ Association. Here he had executive responsibilities re. Government affairs, issues management, business development and trade policy in the US, China, Russia, Japan, Brazil, the Arctic and the European Union, including a 4-year posting in Brussels.
René Piil Pedersen holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Copenhagen University, an AMP from IESE Business School in Barcelona and Diploma in Economics & Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School. René is married and has two sons.
