31 Jul 2025The Committee Appreciation Lunch was held on 30 July 2025 at The Straits Room, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore. Over 70 committee members attended the event.

The lunch was held in appreciation to the committee members who have participated in the nine operational committees over the past two years, in acknowledgement of the time, effort and expertise they have volunteered for the betterment of the shipping industry in Singapore.

Expressing her gratitude in the work they do, 2023/2025 SSA President Ms. Caroline Yang highlighted some of the achievements and initiatives driven by the committees in three core pillars: digitalisation, decarbonisation and retaining talent. She also took the chance to thank the chairs and vice-chairs of the committees, who have stepped up into leadership roles despite their hectic schedules.

Ending her speech, Ms. Yang urged members to continue cultivating a “sense of altruism – to give back to the community you are in,” and that SSA derives strength from its members.

Her speech was followed by a short presentation by SSA Executive Director Mr. Loh Chun How. He featured key achievements from various committees over the past two years that were aligned with the six strategic themes of SSA’s vision: Human Capital & Talent Management; Building Collaborative Platforms; Driving Sustainability; Driving Industry Leadership; Adopting Government Initiated Programmes and Digital Transformation.

The lunch event also served as a platform for members to give their feedback on what were their concerns for the shipping industry, including suggestions on key topics and areas for SSA to focus and engage with members on.

Ms. Yang remarked that she was pleased to see the responses, citing that they were a “reflection of the care and concerns of the members on how to better SSA,” encouraging members to take part in the new committees that will be established under current SSA President Mr. T S Teo’s tenure in the near future.

For their continued commitment and outstanding support, members were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation. The event ended with a hearty lunch and networking session.
