Who We Are
The Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) represents a wide spectrum of shipping companies and other businesses aligned with the maritime industry. It is a national trade association formed in 1985 to serve and promote the interests of its members and to enhance the competitiveness of Singapore as an International Maritime Centre.
SSA’s work is anchored in three core purposes: industry leadership, capability building and advocacy. The association engages and collaborates with key stakeholders in the shipping industry and is a trusted advisor to related government agencies. SSA also works closely with regional and international shipping organisations to protect the marine environment and uphold freedom and safety at sea. As part of its capability building efforts, SSA’s training programme supports the industry in uplifting competencies in areas such as digitalisation, cybersecurity, maritime decarbonisation and other emerging skillsets.
Today, SSA represents over 500 member companies, including shipowners and operators, ship managers, port agents, and other ancillary companies such as shipbrokers, classification societies, marine insurers, bunker suppliers, maritime lawyers, and shipping bankers amongst others.
