As a global maritime hub, the Port of Singapore sees a significant amount of shipping traffic in our port waters. It is imperative that the industry practices safe marine transfer of personnel between vessels, particularly during embarking and disembarking at anchorage. The launch boat industry, made up of many small and medium enterprises (SMEs), play a crucial role in safety stewardship.
In line with our ongoing commitment to safety, SSA in consultation with Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), has initiated an industry-led, Whitelisting of Launch Boats Initiative for launch operators providing crew transfer services in the Port of Singapore.
Criteria for inclusion
Under the initiative, launch operators are audited based on a set of safety criteria and benchmarks, such as the provision of certified life jackets and adherence to robust safety protocols. While completely voluntary, the programme seeks to encourage the launch service industry to adhere to prescribed standards.
To be whitelisted, launch operators must meet the following criteria:
