On 19 August 2025, the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) formalised their shared commitment to maritime talent development through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing, witnessed by SSA President Mr. TS Teo, marks a step forward in supporting the educational aspirations of Singapore’s next generation of maritime professionals.
Under the MoU, SSA will sponsor three to four MaritimeONE scholarships annually from 2025 to 2027. SMF will oversee the administration and promotion of the scholarships, continuing its role as a key enabler in building a robust talent pipeline for Maritime Singapore.
The MaritimeONE Scholarship Programme supports students pursuing studies in disciplines aligned with the evolving needs of the maritime industry. Each year, the SSA Council identifies promising students whose academic pursuits reflect the in-demand skills required to drive the industry’s transformation.
Since its inception, the MaritimeONE initiative has awarded over 500 scholarships, enabling students to pursue degrees in areas such as maritime studies, business, engineering, and data science. This is made possible through strong industry support, including that of SSA. The association’s continued support reflects its long-standing commitment to investing in the next generation of maritime professionals.

This MoU not only strengthens the partnership between SSA and SMF but also reinforces the maritime community’s collective effort to build a future-ready workforce for Maritime Singapore.
