In a show of solidarity for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the SSA YEG participated in the iconic Pink Ribbon Walk 2024 on 26 October 2024. The event brought together young professionals from various maritime sectors, creating a vibrant atmosphere for awareness and advocacy.
The event kicked off with an invigorating warm-up session led by local fitness trainers, energising participants for either a walk of 3km or 5km of their choice through the scenic Marina Barrage area. Many participants proudly donned pink attire, to express their solidarity with individuals affected by breast cancer and to help raise awareness for ongoing research and enhanced patient care.
“We’re excited about the positive change we can create together,” expressed Capt. Ankit Bordia, a YEG participant from Shell. He added: “I support the Pink Ribbon Walk 2024 because it’s a powerful way to raise awareness about breast cancer and show solidarity with those affected by it. By participating, I feel we’re truly making a difference—encouraging early detection, offering support, and building a caring community. Each step we take together can bring hope, strength, and comfort to those on their journey with breast cancer.”
SSA’s involvement in the Pink Ribbon Walk 2024 exemplifies a broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, promoting a culture of care and support within the maritime community. This event not only serves as a platform for networking and camaraderie but also champions a cause that touches countless lives, fostering a more compassionate community of young maritime executives.
