As the curtain fell on another successful year for the SSA and the industry, the event proved to be a memorable occasion. 2024 proved to be another successful year for Maritime SG as well, with maritime performance in Singapore showing a Year-On-Year growth in key port indicators. In her opening remarks, SSA President Ms. Caroline Yang expressed her heartfelt thanks to the maritime community, for their ongoing support and dedication for SSA’s initiatives ranging from adoption of e-bunkering to our propriety CyberSecurity Score Card.
She also formally introduced Chun How to the attendees, expressing confidence that he would “represent our interests well, strengthening our collaboration with key stakeholders and government agencies alike”.
Addressing the crowd, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Singapore’s maritime leaders. He reiterated his commitment to sustaining Singapore’s position as the leading global maritime hub, emphasizing the shared goal of advancing the industry and fostering long-term growth.
They key highlight of the event was the announcement of a new initiative aimed at strengthening Maritime Singapore’s resilience in in the face of growing cybersecurity challenges. Recognising the gaps in traditional insurance policies, Ms. Yang shared that “SSA took the lead in incubating the Singapore Cyber Insurance for Safe Shipping and Operational Readiness (SCISSOR) platform.”
This portal offers shipowners, managers and operators a seamless process of obtaining comprehensive cyber cover with an appointed underwriter. It is currently being finalised. Meanwhile, should you have enquiries about SCISSOR, please reach out to us at ssa.admin@ssa.org.sg.
