This course is aimed at providing a basic understanding to the participants on the various terminology used in Biofuels. The course has been set up to provide an overview of using Biofuels as one of the alternative fuels to decarbonise shipping, and looks at operational considerations, the, maintenance as well as testing regimes to ensure the safety of crews and the system. This course is also suitable for anyone wanting a complete understanding of biofuels in the effort to reduce emissions when considering a life cycle analysis (well to wake) basis.

“This course offers a clear overview of the end‑to‑end supply chain for low‑carbon marine fuels, from feedstock origin to onboard combustion. Participants will examine Well‑to‑Wake (WtW) versus Tank‑to‑Wake (TtW) emissions accounting and their regulatory implications, evaluate the scalability and infrastructure needs of key fuels such as biofuels, methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen, and explore real‑world case studies from ASEAN and China. The course also highlights the role of carbon capture, emerging investment trends, future supply hotspots (2025–2035), and what makes a marine fuel future‑proof.”

This course aims to equip new entrants to the shipping industry with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate EEXI (Energy Efficiency Exisiting Ship Index), CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) and ETS (Emissions Trading System) regulations to contribute to a sustainable and efficient shipping industry. By the end of this course, participants will understand the requirements of regulations and be able to make informed decisions regarding compliance and operational considerations in the shipping industry.

This course is designed to acquaint participants with the factors which affect cargo and ship operations and to enable them to adopt measures for more efficient ship operations. This course seeks to bring a deeper understanding of the importance of Bill of Lading document used in an international context. Proper preparation, issuance and use of this document are discussed in detail to demonstrate effective use of this important document. The course will help participants to appreciate how BL enhances international trade through fulfilment of sales contracts and control over payments before release of goods. Participants will also be exposed to the legal issues governing the BL and learn how to manage conflicts in international trade resulting from BL
