First launched in 2024, the SCISSOR Index, or the Cybersecurity Scorecard, now boasts updates to the Scorecard questionnaire to be aligned with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework 2.0.
A free self-assessment tool, the Cybersecurity Scorecard allows shipowners and ship operators to check on their organisation’s cybersecurity posture, identifying gaps or areas of weaknesses. The Scorecard result can also be submitted as a risk assessment document on the complementary SCISSOR Insurance portal, which offers marine cyber insurance, underwritten by Astaara.
Beyond the updated Scorecard questionnaire, users can also expect the following:
Security Enhancements: Addition of multifactor authentication (MFA) and end-to-end user encryption. Users have the option to reject requests for access to their Scorecard results, ensuring that their results remain confidential.
Multiple Users: The scorecard can now be completed by more than one user from the same organisation, for a more holistic view of the organisation’s cybersecurity posture. To ensure the results’ accuracy, all users must now agree on the responses before the scorecard can be submitted for assessment.
Automatic Report Generation: Upon completion, the Scorecard results will now be automatically emailed to user(s) who have filled out the questionnaires, removing the manual step of downloading the report from the portal.
Actionable Recommendations: The improved portal now includes a new section, ‘Actionable Recommendations’, which offers next steps based on the results of the Scorecard to bolster your organisation’s cyber resilience.
Companies who have previously completed or were in the progress of completing the Scorecard can pick up from where they left off, as previous assessments have been ported over with no changes to access rights.
