As the voice of Singapore’s shipping community, the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) remains committed to developing future maritime talent. Through its continued support of the MaritimeONE Scholarship Programme, SSA invests in promising young individuals. These scholars have the potential to contribute to the growth and transformation of Maritime Singapore.
Each year, SSA sponsors scholarships for students pursuing maritime-related studies. SSA Council members also actively participate in the scholarship selection process. Beyond academic excellence, SSA seeks to support individuals who demonstrate strong character and a genuine interest in the maritime sector.

The 2026 SSA-MaritimeONE Scholars
This year, SSA is proud to sponsor five MaritimeONE scholars, Ng Lian De, Nur Herlyn Inshirah Binte Abdul Halim, Nur Khuzaimah Binte Mohamad Khalid, and Sharley Jia Le Hon from Singapore Polytechnic’s Singapore Maritime Academy, as well as Alya Isniza Binte Ismail from Institute of Technical Education.
Ng Lian De, SSA-MaritimeONE scholarship recipient shared:
“Receiving the SSA MaritimeONE Scholarship has given me confidence and motivation as I start my journey in Nautical Studies. It is nice to know that there is a group of people helping people who want to have a career in the maritime field. I am excited to learn things that go beyond the classroom and to experience what life is like, on the sea.”
Similarly, Alya Isniza Binte Ismail, another scholarship recipient, reflected:
“Receiving the SSA–MaritimeONE Scholarship is a meaningful milestone in my journey as a Marine and Offshore student. I am grateful for this opportunity, which motivates me to work harder and make the most of my education. This scholarship encourages me to keep striving toward a future I can be truly proud of.”

By partnering with industry stakeholders, SSA helps nurture the next generation of maritime professionals. The Association aims to strengthen the industry’s talent pool and ensure Maritime Singapore remains resilient, innovative, and globally competitive.
Alya Isniza said:
“I hope to build a career in the maritime industry where I can continue learning, face new challenges, and contribute my skills effectively. I look forward to gaining practical experience, connecting with professionals across the maritime field, and growing both personally and professionally.”
These investments reflect SSA’s longstanding belief that people are the foundation of maritime success. They are essential to the industry’s growth today and in the future. Through such efforts, SSA continues to play its part in inspiring young talent and creating opportunities for future industry leaders to thrive.
“My goal is to become a deck officer keep learning from the challenges I face and take on more duties as I grow. In the future I want to use the experience I get on the sea to help the industry in a useful way.”
