The Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) officially launched SSA Cares at the SSA Charity Golf 2026 on 22 July 2026. This marked a new chapter in the Association’s commitment to community giving and social impact. The Charity Golf event also served as a fundraiser for SSA Cares, with S$25,000 raised to support future programmes and initiatives.
Serving as the collective identity for community giving initiatives led by SSA, SSA Cares reflects SSA’s dedication to fostering a responsible and inclusive maritime industry while contributing meaningfully to the wider community connected to our sector. Through this platform, SSA aims to:
- Champion maritime-focused community and talent development projects
- Promote sustainability and environmental stewardship within the shipping industry
- Encourage active member participation through volunteerism and community engagement
By bringing together the generosity, expertise and passion of our members, SSA Cares seeks to create meaningful and lasting impact for the maritime community.

SSA Cares Guardian
As part of the launch, SSA is pleased to introduce Ms Katie Men as the Guardian of SSA Cares.
In this role, Ms Men will advocate for the initiative, help guide its development, inspire participation, and ensure that its activities remain aligned with the vision and values of SSA Cares.

Building on Existing Efforts
SSA Cares builds on the Association’s longstanding commitment to talent development and community impact. SSA has supported the next generation of maritime professionals through initiatives such as the MaritimeONE Scholarship Programme. In the past five years, SSA has contributed more than S$600,000 towards maritime scholarships and supported 25 scholarship recipients. This demonstrates the Association’s continued investment in future maritime talent by helping young talents pursue careers in the maritime industry.
This is just the beginning of the SSA Cares journey. Members can look forward to learning more about upcoming programmes and opportunities to get involved, with further updates to be shared at the SSA Gala Dinner 2026.
As an industry, we play a vital role in connecting economies and enabling global trade. But beyond our commercial contributions, we also have a responsibility to contribute positively to society and help build a stronger, more inclusive future.
